Not Your Servant

Hey, Squad. In this episode, I'm spotlighting Dr. Jane Goodall's charity Roots And Shoots. That's our focus for the Charity Spotlight this week.

I wanted to do something a little different this podcast. I explored two ideas we see working in tandem with the Royal family members: subservience and self-assurance. They can work together, and they can work against one another. As it relates to undue criticism, it's either one or the other. It struck me that much of the Sussex criticism comes from people who want the couple to serve them. What an incredible (and ridiculous) idea! And we now see the press trying to play nice.... I wonder why. I explore it.

And finally, I move into what Harry has going on this Thursday in Sheffield during the continuation of the Invictus Games UK Trials as well as sharing what Dr. Jane said about her recent visit to Frogmore Cottage.

Meghan was right: The press is hounding her and they are trying (yet failing) to make her life miserable. I talk about how Meghan, with that one statement at the Lion King premiere, embarrassed the British tabloid press because no one saw the lie but them.

Still, She Rises

In this episode:

I talk about smear campaigns and why the British Hooligan media is ultimately doomed to fail. There might have been a time when it was acceptable to bully a woman just because she was strong. That time has come and gone. While we know the British family is forever in conservation mode, I argue that ultimately, because of the way Meghan is being treated, they're doing themselves a disservice. History will prove me right.

Bad B*tches prevail regardless. 

I also talk about the Lion Recovery Fund and Disney's effort to leverage Lion King's global attention to help recover the lion population of Africa. 

Harry is set to attend the European premiere of The Lion King and he and the cast hope to shine a light on this matter.

The Sussex Way

In this episode, I shine a light on the Invictus Games! Founded by the Duke of Sussex in 2013, this entity focuses on the warrior spirit of wounded veterans. The Invictus Games 2020 will be held in The Hague. 

You can donate to the Invictus Games by going to their Just Giving page (https://justgiving.com/invictusgamesfoundation) or you can check out their official merch, all proceeds going to the foundation that runs the games (https://bit.ly/327wEoK). 

Also check out the W.H. Henley poem "Invictus", which was the inspiration for the name of the games. It summarizes the warrior spirit quite well. Plus it's classic literature, yo. 

I also talk about the upcoming christening, Meghan's new bling as well as the upcoming events for Harry, including Polo and the Lion King premiere. Pray to the gods that we get Meghan in a photo with Beyonce. This is all we need.

I discuss THAT RENOVATION and the 'fake outrage' associated with it using "Quick Maffs" -- showing just how little people actually contributed to the cottage renovation. They trippin'! Do they even have the right to be outraged? Also, we're keeping up with all that Harry has going on this week and next week. Oh yeah, and the Sussexes are going to Mama Africa in Autumn!!

BBSee These Hands

This is a minicast.

We are tired. We are tired of Meghan being your easy target. We’re tired of the hatred and we're tired of this coordinated attack on this woman who simply trying to live a happy life with her new family.

We saw it with Mrs. Obama and we see it with powerful women of color, but with Meghan, it just feels different. It feels sinister. The BBC has used their platform to portray a woman of color as a stereotype and thereby feeding the continued bullying of this woman who’s done nothing to deserve it.

Call them out.

Complain.

Create community.

 

COMPLAIN to the BBC using the following link and let them know that using their platform in this way is unacceptable. You can’t just call it ‘satire’ and be done with it. It’s dangerous.
